JOHN ALFRED PARK
John Alfred Park, age 69, resident of 1561 Maple Road, Fort Scott, Kan., died Saturday, June 5, 2010, at his home.
He was born July 17, 1940, in Atchison, Kan., the son of J. B. "Shorty" Park and Mabel Berniece Woolston Park.
He married Nancy Jo Footitt on June 12, 1964. She preceded him in death in 1986.
He married Connie Mae Webb on August 7, 1988 at Rushville, Missouri.
John had worked as traffic manager for Armour Conagra, sold real estate and worked as a machine operator for Ward Kraft in Fort Scott.
He was a member of the Community Christian Church. John was a past worship leader and deacon with the Baptist Church in Paola. He worked in the children's church ministry in Fort Scott.
His hobbies include carpentry, building and racing go carts, and listening to country and gospel music.
Survivors include his wife, Connie, of the home; five sons, Jeff Park and wife Vickie, Louisburg, Kan., David Park and wife Kelly, Overland Park, Kan., Barry Park and fiancé Kaylie, Overland Park, James Park, U. S. Army, Fort Polk, La., and Donald Park, of the home; one daughter, Debbie McClure and husband Bryan, Fort Scott.
Also surviving is a sister, Joyce Rains, Rushville, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Cheney Witt Chapel, Fort Scott.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Atchison, Kan.
The family will receive friends prior to the graveside service from 12 noon until leaving for the cemetery at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, 800 Kansas Avenue, Atchison.
