SEK Humane Society open house this weekend

PITTSBURG -- The Southeast Kansas Humane Society is holding its Seventh Annual Paws and Claws Adopt-A-Thon and Open House Saturday and Sunday at the shelter two-and-a-half miles west of U.S. 69 on 20th Street/560 Avenue.

Hours are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Refreshments will be served.

As Saturday is also Armed Forces Day, SEKHS is offering a special promotion for military veterans. To thank them for their service to the country, military veterans can adopt an adult dog from any of the outside pens at no cost for this weekend only. Certain conditions apply.

The Open House will also feature a drawing for a quilt. Chances for the quilt are 50 cents each, or three for $1. The drawing will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday.
