JV tennis finishes season with title at LCHS

PARSONS -- Fort Scott High School's junior varsity tennis team ended its season with the team title and two first-place entrants at the Labette County Tournament here Monday.

The Tigers scored 20 points in the tournament while Parsons scored 18. Chanute was third with 14 points.

Bryce Daly was 6-0 on the day in winning No. 1 singles while Jimmy Cox and Michael Flater teamed up to win No. 2 doubles, also at 6-0. Kyle Kelly and Dillon Peel were the second-place team in No. 1 doubles. Davis Drake was 3-3 in No. 2 singles.

This was the last outing of the season for the Tiger JV, which demonstrated steady improvement as the season went on.

"This was probably about the strongest JV line up we have put together and they had great results," FSHS head coach Lynn Barr said. "We will really be counting on some of these players to step up to the varsity level and do a good job for us next season."

The Tiger varsity will be here today for the Southeast Kansas League Tournament. FSHS was rained out of its home invitational Saturday and was not able to reschedule it before SEK. Regionals will be held next week.
