LLOYD DEVON LAWRENCE
Lloyd Devon Lawrence, age 76, resident of Guest Home Estates, died Monday morning, March 8, 2010, at Mercy Health Center of Fort Scott.
He was born Aug. 4, 1933, in Blue Mound, Kan., the son of Roscoe Lawrence and Esther Emma Amer Lawrence.
Lloyd married Shirley June Sears on Sept. 7, 1956 in Iola, Kan. She preceded him in death on Aug. 10, 1999.
He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was known to his co-workers as "Duffey."
He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 and the Kansas National Guard in 1956 and 1957.
He was a member of the American Postal Workers Union.
Lloyd loved to support all Fort Scott High School and Fort Scott Community College sporting events.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing and his vegetable garden.
Survivors include three sons; Larry Lawrence, Terry Lawrence and wife Linda, and Tom Lawrence and wife Norma, all of Fort Scott; and one daughter, Cindy O'Rear, Fort Scott.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Daniel Lawrence, Sierra Long, Brad Peterson, Kortney Lawrence, Pfc. Cody Lawrence, Jacob Lawrence, Brianne Lawrence, Joshua Lawrence, and Clinton Lawrence; and two great-grandchildren, Chandler Lawrence and Brayden Lawrence.
William James Schafer will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m., Friday in the Cheney Witt Chapel.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
