Crawford County deputies arrest 3 for violations at Twisters

FRANKLIN -- Crawford County Sheriff's Deputies and an agent with the Kansas Alcohol Beverage Control conducted a bar check and sting operation at Twisters Night Club located at 136 S. U.S. Highway in rural Crawford County, on Friday which resulted in one bartender and the club manager being arrested for selling alcohol to minors. A second bartender was arrested for outstanding warrants out of Sedgwick County.

Those arrested were:

* William H. Wivel, III, 38, of Frontenac, who is the club's manager, was arrested for selling alcohol to minors and posted a $500 bond.

* Jenna M. Burks, 21, of Pittsburg, who is a bartender, was arrested for selling alcohol to minors and posted a $500 bond.

* Christina R. Masters, 23, of Pittsburg, who is a bartender, was arrested for three outstanding arrest warrants from Sedgwick County for failure to appear. She posted a $7,500 bond.

A long form complaint will be filed with the Crawford County Attorney this week when additional charges will be requested against the management of Twisters Night Club for violation of Crawford County Resolution No. 2008-137 which requires a 30-percent food sale for the establishment to allow anyone under 21 years of age on the premises. The CCSO said the establishment offered no food for sale and had no food on the premises.
