KATHRYN E. "KILLER" COCHRAN
Kathryn E. "Killer" Cochran, 66, of Walnut, Kan., died at 7:31 p.m., Monday, Jan. 18, 2010 in Freeman West in Joplin, Mo., after a long illness.
She was born Dec. 14, 1943 in Fort Scott, Kan., a daughter of Basil and Mildred (Beggs) Hill.
She grew up and attended schools at Fort Scott and Fulton, Mo.
She married James Barney Cochran on Feb. 24, 1964 in Cedar City, Mo. He survives of the home.
She lived in various place across the United States, moving to Walnut in 2004.
She worked as a waitress and caregiver.
She was a member of the Arma Christian Center in Arma, Kan., and she enjoyed being with her family and her lovely dear friends. She enjoyed being outdoors and watching hummingbirds.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, James Barney Cochran, of the home, is a daughter, Shelba Jean Ranta of Pittsburg, Kan.; two grandchildren, Marcus Hill of Pittsburg and Monica Young of Joplin, Mo.; four great-grandchildren and six brothers, Wayne, Jack, Howard, David, Daryl, Dwight Hill.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers and a sister.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard where friends may call after 1 p.m., Thursday.
Cremation will take place following the visitation. No services are scheduled at this time.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society and these may be left at or mailed to the Smith-Carson-Wall funeral home 518 W. St. John Ave., Box 258, Girard, Kan., 66743.
