The Fort Scott Police Department released information Monday morning in regards to the murder of a rural Fort Scott resident Saturday night.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. Saturday, the FSPD responded to the 300 block of North Ford Street in reference to a call of a disturbance in which it was reported that gun shots were fired. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle off the road at Elm and Mineral streets. Tynce L. Joles II, 37, or rural Fort Scott, was found unresponsive in the driver's seat. He was transported by ambulance to Mercy Health Center where he later died.

Robert Miller, 24, of Fort Scott was later arrested and booked into the Southeast Kansas Regional Correctional Center on the charge of first-degree murder in connection with the incident.

According to the FSPD, all charges are for informational purposes only and the suspect is innocent until proven guilty by law.
