Bonnie Ruth Longstreth
Bonnie Ruth Longstreth, 78, Moundville, passed away on Thursday night, Oct. 8, 2009, at Willow Lane Nursing Home, Butler, Mo., following a lengthy illness. She was born on Oct. 5, 1931, in Briscoe, Okla., to Harold Fredrick Ledgerwood and Ruth Vinian Farreingham Ledgerwood. She married Alvin Longstreth on March 5, 1960, in Springfield, Mo., and he preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 2000.
Bonnie was born in Briscoe, Okla., and spent most of her youth in Ash Grove, Mo. She graduated from St. John's Nursing School in 1953. Following graduation, she worked in the nursing field in Springfield and St. Louis for seven years before moving to Vernon County. She was Director of Nursing at the Nevada State Hospital from 1959 until 1989. She then worked at Heartland Hospital until 2003 and the Nevada Regional Medical Center from 2003 until 2005. Bonnie served as a 4-H leader and project leader. She also was a member of the Missouri Nursing Association and Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of the Sylvandale Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Kent Sutton Longstreth, Moundville, Mo.; two daughters, Carmen Lynne Patty, Olathe, Kan., and Juanita Ellen Scoville, El Dorado Springs, Mo.; two grandchildren, Brooke Merideth Longstreth, Moundville, and Merideth Nicole Patty, Olathe, Kan.; one brother, Gilbert Ledgerwood, Liberty, Texas; and two sisters, Nadine Hergesheimer, Appleton City, Mo., and Loretta Ledgerwood, Nevada. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Howard and one son-in-law, Lynn Patty.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Hubert Fox officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends Monday, Oct. 12, from 6-7 p.m. at Ferry Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to the Sylvandale Baptist Church, the National Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Association in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
