Ronald Shaw Townsend, age 74, resident of 403 S. State, Bronson, Kan., died Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at the Moran Manor Nursing Home.

He was born April 9, 1935, in San Diego, Calif., the son of Gilbert Townsend and Gladys Lowe Townsend.

Ronald married Jean Thomas on Sept. 20, 1986.

He was retired as a recreational vehicle technician.

He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Air Force.

Following his retirement and move to Bronson, Ron mowed the city park and the Bronson Cemetery.

His hobbies include building miniature doll houses.

Survivors include his wife, Jean, of the home; two sons, Mark Townsend, San Diego, and Neal Townsend, Ramona, Calif.; three daughters, Teresa DeMaria, Susan Hangen and Linda Crouch, all of San Diego.

Also surviving is a sister Sandra Burnworth, San Diego; 11 grandchildren and one great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, James Thomas.

Lloyd Houk will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel.

Following funeral services there will be cremation.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel.
