Pre-school screenings at West Bourbon Elementary Friday

UNIONTOWN -- Developmental screenings for children of preschool age who live in USD 235 will be available from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Friday at West Bourbon Elementary School, 602 Fifth St.

The purpose of the screening clinics is to locate children with possible developmental delays who may need special education or related services, or who need assistance with referrals to other service agencies.

Vision, hearing, speech and developmental screenings will be conducted for children up to four years of age at no cost. A telephone interview will be conducted as part of the prescreening appointment process.

Appointments for children up to two years of age can be made by calling Beth Case at (620) 249-2949. Appointments for children between 3-5 years of age may be made by calling Debbit Potter at 235-3152. Early scheduling of appointments is encouraged.

The clinic is sponsored by the Southeast Kansas Special Education Interlocal 637, the Birth to Three Program, Smart Start and the supporting school districts of Pittsburg, Frontenac, Cherokee, Arma, Uniontown and Girard.
