DORIS ELLEN HUNT

Thursday, August 6, 2009

Doris Ellen Hunt, daughter of James E. and Florence (Shockley) Hunt, was born November 14, 1926 in Fort Scott, Kan., where she lived most of her life and left this earth, her family and friends, to be joined with Christ on July 14, 2009 in St. John's Hospital Springfield, at the age of 82 years and eight months.

Doris had a great love of music. She was a self-taught musician, starting at age four playing the piano. Her instruments included the piano, organ, accordion, banjo, guitar, mandolin, and violin. She could play almost any song that was requested but was partial to gospel, waltzes, and boogie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lawrence E. Hunt; and a foster brother, Roy Doty.

Survivors include her sister, Carrie F. Strohm and her husband, LeRoy, state of Florida.

Doris' vocation in life was to offer her love and care to her seven very adoring nieces and nephews, as well as two foster nieces, Dorothy Meredith, Willard, Mo.; Toni Huffman, Willard, Mo.; Karen Strohm, Kansas City, Mo.; Michael Strohm, Willard, Mo.; Becky Moerer, Neosho, Mo.; Eddie Hunt, Neodesha, Kan., Cathy Bowman, Springfield, Mo.; Lee Ann Norman, Spring, Texas and Beth Doty, Houston, Texas. From these seven nieces and nephews, Doris had 39 great and great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom loved and adored her. She is also survived by a multitude of cousins in the Marshfield/Conway, Mo. area that loved and idolized her.

Doris, may you now join all the family and friends whom have preceded you in death, and now rest in comfort and peace.

Funeral mass was Monday, July 20, 2009 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conway, Mo. with Fr. Geff Lamprea officiating. Burial was in the Reed Cemetery, Conway, Mo.
