Families enjoy birthdays, weddings, celebrations

Larry and Vicki, Mark and Haley Shead with Katy and Maria Shead and Mitzi and Joel Ray with Cademon and Atalie all attended the wedding of Chrisi Playford andMichael Shead in Granville, Michigan on July 11.
On the Sunday following, they joined many other relatives including the mother and grandmother of them all, Shirley Applegarth from Tulsa, Okla., for a family reunion by the lake in the private cabin of Mr. and Mrs. Duane and Jeanie Vanderklok.
At a recent dinner and business meeting of JOY Sunday School Class, President Patty Peterson asked the Bible question -- "Who wrestled with an angel and suffered a broken thigh?" The answer was Jacob.
Mae Watt gave her 85th birthday offering.
It was voted to give extra money to the two missions we support each month for a bonus this coming month.
Also in July, the group shared with a family who is doctoring for cancer and needed their car repaired.
Vera Parrish Newspapread interesting song titles and asked the group to finish the last words.
Correspondence was read from LATM and Campus Christians.
Others present were Wayne and John Parrish, Gary Peterson, Betty Dehn, Carole Garrison, Mary V. Shead and Pastor David Peterson.
Patty closed the meeting with "If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything."
Members of the Church Board had their monthly meeting following the closing of JOY meeting.
Enroute home some members bought Cherry Kool Aid drinks from the Leichliter children and their friends on the street corner. They attend the Christian Church SS and were polite and thanked the customers.
The young people in Christian Church on the first Sunday in August were Josie Bryant, and Andy Leichliter who helped the elders with serving communion and taking the offering; Cheyenne Melon who helped with the song sheet; Karter and Allyson Dugan came with their Grandmother, Christie Parrish.
Another guest was Madison Bright from Oologah, Okla. who attended with her grandparents, Don and Terry Bright. Peggy Wickstrom from Oklahoma City was present at both JOY Sunday School Class and morning Worship.
Mae Watt gave a birthday offering for her new Great Grand daughter, Katy Jo Miller. Grandparents are Bill and Karen Watt.
Pastor entitled his sermon GRUMBLING AND COMPLAINING Scripture was taken from the Book of Numbers Chapter 11. He announced that his sermons can be read on computers on www.sermons.logos.com The monthly dinner followed the morning worship. A special treat was home hade icecream.
Patty Peterson went to Coldwater, her home town, to enjoy a family birthday celebration on the first weekend in August.
While Jack and Harriett Corporon were in the area to attend the funeral of Dan Corporon in Neosho, Mo., they visited Bill Dobbins in Frontenac on Sunday and together had brunch at Harry's Cafe in Pittsburg. Then on to Joplin, Mo. where they visited Nelson and Eloise Corporon and enjoyed the evening meal at the Red Lobster. A lighted candle was placed in the piece of pie for Jack's birthday celebration.
While the New York Corporons were guests in the Arcadia Shead home, their niece and husband, Mindy and Len Losen with two sons, Lucas and Reat from Overland Park spent three days vacation occupying the Brownstone Home of Jack and Harriett.
Mindy is the daughter of Dr. Bill and Melinda Corporon. Dr. Bill is an on call employee of the Emergency Room in Mt. Carmel in Pittsburg.
Galen and Jody Dunn will be guests in Open Door Church, Arcadia on the second Sunday, August 9, both morning and evening services. They will tell of their mission and school work in the Philippine Islands. There will be special music.
The Dunns are in the USA visiting supporting churches and friends.
Galen's health is improving but he must stay in USA close to his Dr. for a period of time.
