Bicknell grant accepting applications for 2009 cycle

According to a press release from the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas, the Rita J. Bicknell Women's Health Fund and Giving Circle is accepting applications for its 2009 grant cycle.

The grant, which is for programs that address the needs in women's health that are not currently being met in Southeast Kansas, is open to local 501 (c) 3 non-profit organizations and public institutions for programs supporting women's health. In order for organizations to be considered for the grant, they must fill out a grant application, attach a list of their Board of Directors and return ten copies of the application and the board of director's list to the CFSEK by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, the press release said.

All grant applicants will receive confirmation of the receipt of the application by the CFSEK and will be notified of either acceptance or declination in writing in August 2009. All programs for the 2009 grant cycle must be completed and evaluated by June 1, 2010. All grant recipients will be required to submit a final report narrative evaluating the success and impact of each program, according to the press release.

Grant awards will be determined by the quality and strength of the case presented for the proposed need. The criteria that will be considered in reviewing proposals includes compatibility with the Rita J. Bicknell Women's Health Fund mission, organizational capacity, soundness of proposed strategies, resource efficiency -- collaborative efforts should be emphasized, appropriateness of budget and plan for program evaluation.
