Woman injured in rollover

Bourbon County Sheriff's Office was dispatched at 9:29 a.m. Tuesday in response to an accident in rural Bourbon County.
Bourbon County Sheriff's Deputy Bob Jackson responded to the two vehicle accident at the intersection of 175th Street and Tomahawk Road and found one vehicle laying on the passenger's side.
According to Jackson, Elizabeth Valentine, of rural Fort Scott, was traveling north-bound on 175th Street in a GMC Yukon Denali when Dennis Meech, of rural Fort Scott, traveling east-bound on Tomahawk Road in a Chevy pick-up entered the intersection making contact with Valentine. Upon impact, Valentine went onto the shoulder then came back onto the road. Valentine's efforts to keep the vehicle on the road caused her vehicle to roll over several times before coming to a rest on the passenger's side with Valentine stuck inside the vehicle. After being removed from the vehicle, Jackson said Valentine was life flighted from the scene to treat a possible head injury and a broken arm. The extent of the injuries are not known.
"She had a pretty good gash on her head," Jackson said.
Meech did not suffer any injuries.
According to Jackson, there was no evidence of either Valentine or Meech traveling at speeds in excess of the speed limit.
Jackson said Meech slowed down when approaching the yield sign posted at the intersection. He said Meech did not see Valentine approaching. Jackson said the intersection is somewhat dangerous.
"It's kind of one of those nasty intersections," Jackson said.
