The Fort Scott Community College Theatre Department is hosting a summer theatre camp for youth that concludes Friday.
The camp, which is designed for area youth 6-11 years of age, began June 1 and runs from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday. Each session consists of classes, play rehearsal, snacks and a final performance. The camp schedule includes a talent class from 1 to 1:30 p.m., 1:35 to 2:05 p.m., and from 2:10 to 2:40 p.m. The talent classes will consist of acting training, music and dance training, and technical theatre training. At 2:40 p.m., students take a break to enjoy snacks. Between 3 and 4 p.m., participants will be engaged in technical theatre training.
On Friday, youth who participate in the camp will present a performance for the community. Students will perform "Where the Wild Things Are" and two Disney numbers at 6 p.m. Friday in the Danny and Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center theater. Prior to their performance, camp participants will enjoy a pizza dinner between 4 and 5:30 p.m.
