BASIL EUGENE REAVIS
Basil Eugene Reavis, 62, of Fort Scott, died Saturday, June 6, 2009, at his home.
He was born March 16, 1947 in Fort Scott, the son of Randall Adrian and Velma Veta (Vermillion) Reavis.
He married Linda Brooking on November 18, 1983 in Fort Scott. She preceded him in death on August 14, 2000.
He worked for Bruce Marble and Granite Works for 25 years, then for Medicalodge Nursing Home as a C.N.A. and C.M.A. for 7 years, then for Heritage Nursing Home in Girard for 7 years as a C.N.A. and C.M.A.
He is survived by his mother, Velma Reavis of Girard, KS., his fiancé, Janice Eck of Girard, two sons, Randy Reavis and Basil Reavis, Jr. both of Wichita, KS., five daughters; Heather Rein and Jackie Smith both of Scottsbluff, NE., Dorothy Kidd, Ashley Reavis, and Adrianna Miller all of Fort Scott, his former wife, Carole McIntosh of Torrington, WY., fourteen grandchildren; Phillip, Dustin, Sammantha, Kayla, David, Mandy, Cassie, Ciera, Dominic, Randy, Braeleigh, D.J., Cameron, and Austin, four great-grandchildren, and one sister; Mary Reavis of Wahiawa, HI.
He was preceded in death by his father, and a brother; Eddy Reavis.
The Rev. Reed Hartford will conduct funeral services 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home with burial following at the Fort Scott National Cemetery.
Military Honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Olson-Frary-Burkhart Post 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Detail.
The family will receive friends, Tuesday, June 9, 2009 from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m., at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall St.
