Youth Activities Team Co-convener Diana Mitchell and other YAT members attended Tuesday's meeting of the Fort Scott City Commission to announce the YAT's next big project.

YAT member Clayton Tatro announced the Ropin' & Rockin' for Pennies for the Park. The event will begin at 9 a.m., October 10, with a United States Team Roping Championships-sanctioned competition and ending with a concerts featuring the up-and-coming country music star Jason Aldean and an opening performance by Kevin Weldon at approximately 7 p.m.

"We're very proud of it and we're hoping now everybody else is," Mitchell said.

Mitchell said the YAT has been informed that Aldean's concert attract sell-out crowds. For this reason, the YAT will be limiting the number of tickets available. The tickets will cost $25 and will go on sale in mid-August. Mitchell added, the tickets will be available at www.yatfortscott.com and one local outlet which has not yet been determined.

Tatro announce that they are expecting as many as 10,000 people to come through Fort Scott for the event. With a large number of people in town the YAT is expecting to make a lot money for the development of Ellis Park.

"All of this will come back to Pennies for the Park," Mitchell said. "Were going to hope to make a great deal of money."

The YAT did not act alone in the planning of the event. Tatro said the LaRoche family will be hosting the event with assistance from the YAT.

The event will held at the Bourbon County Fairgrounds. Tickets and event information will be available at www.yatfortscott.com.
