Cooking schools offered through Kansas State Extension Office
Local youth will have the opportunity to learn to cook this summer with the help of the local Kansas State Research and Extension office.
According to a press release from K-State Research and Extension Agent Ann Ludlum, the extension office will be sponsoring free cooking classes for children who have completed second through fifth grades.
Cooking classes will be conducted in Fort Scott, June 3-5; Bronson, June 10-12; and Uniontown, June 10-12. Each class will consist of three morning or afternoon sessions, the press release said. The classes will be taught by Sandy Winters and Terri Kretzmeier, K-State Research and Extension nutrition assistants.
During the cooking classes, the youth will learn food preparation skills, nutrition, and kitchen safety, according to the press release.
Since class size is limited, participants need to register by contacting the Bourbon County Extension office on the first floor of the Bourbon County Courthouse or calling (620) 223-3720.
