CARRIE RUTH STEELE

Carrie Ruth Steele, 99, of Uniontown, Kan., passed away Tuesday morning, May 19, 2009 at the Medicalodge of Fort Scott.

She was born Oct. 1, 1909 in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Joseph Robert and Carrie Edith (Mason) Ralls.

She married Andrew Thomas Steele September 5, 1929 in Fort Scott. He preceded her in death May 31, 1983.

She was an Activities Director for the Marmaton Valley Nursing Home until it closed, and was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church.

Ruth is survived by her sons; Joseph John 'Jack' Steele of Osawatomie, Kan., and Freddie Andrew Steele of Columbiana, Alabama, nine grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Andrew, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son; Robert Curtis Steele, a brother; Floyd Ralls, and a sister; Hazel Hall.

Rev. Marty DeWitt will conduct funeral services 2 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Uniontown with burial following at the Uniontown Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. at the church, and last until service time.
