Farmer accepts job at Cottey
NEVADA -- Cottey College is pleased to announce that Carla Bryant Farmer of Fort Scott, has accepted the the position of campaign manager/senior major gifts officer. Farmer will begin her duties at Cottey on July 1.
Farmer had previously served as the director of marketing and development for Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott since 1986. She initiated efforts that led to the formation of the Mercy Health Center Foundation; coordinated the $2 million capital campaign for the new MercyHealth Center; and served as the lead staff person for the "Capture the Spirit Gala" for 19 years.
Farmer also organized "Women in Philanthropy" in 2008 and coordinated the hospital's Spirit of Women initiative that provided educational programming to over 1,500 women in 2008.
Farmer is an active volunteer in her community. She serves on the board of the Ronald McDonald House of the Four States, the Kansas Society for Crippled Children, and is past president of both the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce and the Kansas Association of Health Care Communicators.
Farmer was recognized as the Rotarian of the Year and is a two-time recipient of the Emerald Award, the most prestigious marketing award presented by the Kansas Association of Health Care Communicators.
Farmer earned her B.S. with an emphasis in communications from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan.
In her new position as senior major gifts officer, Farmer will assist with the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of gifts of $50,000 and over for the College and will create and help manage a portfolio of potential major donors in collaboration with the President of the College, Dr. Judy Rogers.
