Eagles, Jayhawks split doubleheader

MOUND CITY -- Uniontown won a wild first game of a non-league doubleheader here Friday, 15-13, but host Jayhawk-Linn salvaged the split by taking the second game, 12-2, via run-rule.

The Eagles scored seven runs in the top of the first inning. But the Jayhawk evened the score with seven of their own in the bottom of the second.

The Eagles managed to get three runs in the top of the sixth. They held the Jayhawks to one in the bottom of the inning as they held on to win.

The Eagles had 16 base hits with Tyler Felt, Jordan Woods, Tyler Hall and Max Labbe each cranking out three and Ty Clayton bashing two. Labbe, a freshman, drove in three runs, while Hall, Clayton and Anthony Myers each drove in two.

Uniontown also had 20 stolen bases, according to the stats that were turned in. Felt stole five bases and Myers and Labbe each stole four.

The Eagles had only four base hits in the second game. Jayhawk-Linn scored in every innings but the first with a single run in the sixth bringing the 10-run rule into effect.

Woods, Clayton, DuShawn Robinson and Ethan Hammond had Uniontown's hits.

The Eagles played host to Marmaton Valley Monday night. They will go to Central Heights Friday and play one varsity and one junior varsity contest.
