Morning fire results in fatality

Police tape blocks off a house at 102 S. Washington St. on Wednesday morning after an early morning fire claimed the life of one person. Shortly after 7 a.m., Fort Scott firefighters and police officers were dispatched to the fire on the corner of Washington. Firefighters were on scene within two minutes and remained at the residence until after noon completing a preliminary investigation. As of press time, the name of the victim had not yet been released. A Kansas Highway Patrol officer also assisted with the incident. (Tribune photo/Rayma Silvers)
