Jays swept; Uniontown schedule set

UNIONTOWN -- Pleasanton was swept in a Three Rivers League triangular here Tuesday night.

Pleasanton lost to Uniontown, 25-8, 25-23, and to Crest, 25-12, 25-22.

Blu-Jay head coach Danny Looney said that Pleasanton "had some real pretty passes and sets (against Uniontown) but they went right to the best hitter in the league, Abbie Smith. We made way too many mental errors and you can't afford to do that when you're playing a team as well-coached as Uniontown."

Carlee Campbell had seven kills and three blocks for the Blu-Jays (2-3 TRL, 7-19 overall). Johnnea Saulsberry dished 11 assists and Kim Robinson led with eight digs.

Campbell had four kills, three blocks and three digs versus Crest. Saulsberry had seven assists and Robinson had nine digs.

Uniontown and Pleasanton will be in opposite pools at the Uniontown Invitational Saturday. The Eagles (15-7) are in Pool A with Southern Coffey County (20-3), Crest (11-13), Northeast-Arma (7-17) and Yates Center (4-16). That pool will play its matches at the West Bourbon Elementary gymnasium.

Pleasanton is in Pool B with Central Heights (21-2), Riverton (12-7), Frontenac (13-8) and Marmaton Valley (1-22). Those matches will be played at Uniontown High School.

The third-place match between the runners-up in each pool will be played at UHS. The championship match will be held at the WBE gym.

First match in each pool is at 8:30 a.m. Subsequent matches begin 5 minutes after the previous one concludes.
