Eagles post shutout over Indians
OSWEGO, Kan. -- Uniontown's defense held Oswego to 103 total yards, preserving a shutout on a last-minute goal-line stand in a 14-0 win here Friday night.
Uniontown head coach Jim Mason said that Oswego (3-2) had the ball at Uniontown's three-yard line with 1:57 remaining in the game. But the Indians didn't gain a yard on four plays.
"Coach Johnson put in time watching tape this week," Mason said. "And he said to play hard, play smart and play together. And I think we accomplished that."
Earlier, Travis Aikins put Uniontown (3-2) on the board with a 52-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Ben Dixon ran in the two-point conversion. In the third quarter, David Shank scored on a one-yard run.
Aikins rushed for 11 yards on 19 carries for the Eagles while Shank caught two passes for 22 yards. Aikins and Shank were also the defensive leaders, in on 13 tackles each.
Drew Johnson and Ethan Hammond each intercepted passes and Hammond also recovered a fumble.
Uniontown will host Olpe next Friday night.
