Richmond sets school record at Richmond
RICHMOND, Kan. -- Pleasanton's Rachel Richmond set a new Pleasanton High School varsity girls' record when she ran the 4,000-meter course at the Central Heights Invitational here Thursday.
The KSHSAA directory lists Central Heights as being in Richmond, although it is actually out in the country. Still, it seems appropriate for someone named Richmond to set a record here.
Richmond's time was 19 minutes, 17.8 seconds, which put her 13th in the field. Additionally, Blu-Jay head coach Dan Saulsberry said that every Pleasanton runner had a personal-best time in the meet.
Cheyanne Reynolds finished 25th in the girls' varsity race with a time of 22:01.5. In boys' varsity competition, a 5,000-meter race, Kelly Wadel was 32nd with his time of 19:57.1 and Dennis Moore was 37th in 20:41.6.
The boys' junior varsity race was also 5,000 meters. Rance Schoenhals finished 10th in 21:29.5 and Kyle Walker was 27th in 26:39.6.
There was also a junior high division. Pleasanton had two entrants in a seventh-grade girls' race. Autumn Secrest finished third in 7:19.7 over one mile and Erin Newell was fourth in 7:20.6.
The Pleasanton High School teams will compete in Jayhawk-Linn's meet next Thursday.
