Mary Helen Davis, age 71, a resident of 502 S. Little Street, Fort Scott, Kan., died Friday Sept. 26, 2008, at Mercy Health Center.

She was born Dec. 23, 1936, in Chatsworth, Calif., the daughter of Ervin Weems and Ann Cawyer Weems.

Mary Helen married Eldon Leon Davis on April 18, 1958. She loved gardening, cooking and sewing.

Survivors include her husband Eldon, of the home, two sons, Jerry Davis and wife Pamela, Minden Mines, Mo. and Mark Davis and wife Rachel, Sacramento Calif.; and one daughter, Joanie Lynn Shortridge and husband Dale, Montana. Also surviving are two brothers, Jack Weems, Tulsa, Okla. and Clyde Weems, Calif., and a half-brother, Gary Hill, Seattle, Wash.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Weems, sister Dixie, and brother Jerry.

There was cremation, followed by a private family memorial service. Burial will be in California. Services are under the direction of Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, Kansas.
