Grandparents Day, September 11 honored at Fort Scott Manor event

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Grandparents as well as the victims from September 11, 2001 were honored at the Fort Scott Manor earlier this month.

A cookout was held at Fort Scott Manor on September 11 for its residents and guests. Despite the rainy weather, residents gathered in the dining room to enjoy the special evening.

A patriotic theme was set with red, white, and blue decorations all around the building. The event began with residents saluting the American flag and honoring veterans. Also, there was musical entertainment and some delicious food.

Residents and guests enjoyed grilled hot-dogs or bratwurst with homemade potato salad and baked beans. Keeping with the patriotic theme, a cake decorated to look like the American flag and ice cream were served before the program ended.

Following the event, a few residents accompanied Activity Director Cindy Hall to the special patriotic program held at the VFW. They said they were very honored to participate in the event.
