Uniontown falls to Raiders, 26-6

UNIONTOWN, Kan. -- Frontenac was able run the ball and control the clock as the visiting Raiders took a 26-6 win over Uniontown here Friday night.

The Raiders (2-2) ran 67 plays, 60 of those rushes, while the Eagles (2-2) were able to run only 27 plays. Frontenac finished with 331 total yards, 241 of those on the ground. Uniontown mustered only 106 yards, all rushing.

John Opplinger scored first for the Raiders on a three-yard run in the first quarter. Quarterback Joe Saia scored next on a two-yard run to make it a 14-0 lead after one period.

Saia found Josh Garcia on a 22-yard pass play in the second quarter to make it a 20-0 lead at the half.

Uniontown got on the board when Ethan Hammond ran in from 10 yards out in the third quarter. Zac Palumbo tacked on Frontenac's final score on a five-yard run in the fourth.

Travis Aikins was Uniontown's leading rusher with 62 yards on six carries. David Shank was the Eagles' defensive leader as he was in on 16 tackles. Aikins got in on 12 stops while Jordan Woods was in on 11.

The Eagles will travel to Oswego next Friday night.
