Freshmen swept in Pittsburg Tourney
PITTSBURG -- Fort Scott High's freshmen volleyball team lost all four matches it played in a tournament here Saturday.
Parsons took a 26-16, 26-24 win in the first match. Shelby Middleton and Emily Matkin served seven points each for the Tigers.
Carl Junction, Mo., then posted a 25-14, 25-23 sweep. Matkin served six points while Taylor Grant served five. Heather Karleskint had two blocks.
Baxter Springs took a 25-19, 25-12 win in the third match. Middleton and Kristin Allen each served seven points. Allen, Karleskint and Jessica Cox each had two blocks.
In the last match, Independence took a 25-17, 25-14 win over the Tigers. Middleton served nine points. Allen had two kills.
The freshmen will play in a quadrangular at 5 p.m. Thursday in Chanute. Pittsburg and Labette County will also be in attendance.
