Senior Swings honor anniversaries

Wednesday, September 10, 2008

It was a very pleasant evening for the Senior Swingers dance at Buck Run Community Center tonight.

The big fans were taken out and turned on for a while but it got cooler and they were turned off. That is easily done.

We had a fair turnout with a few still sick for one reason or another.

The John Gaddys from Pittsburg were absent again. He is still down with his back and she was this evening.

Joan Engle was home tonight, she had a bad cold. Josephine Brillhart was down tonight too, she was not feeling well. We didn't get any news from Neva Hite but someone said she is home recooperating.

Bob and Dolores Hurst celebrated their first wedding anniversary last Friday, Sept. 5. We gave them a hand of welcome and congratulations.

Violet and Bob Hull were called to the front. They were given a hand of welcome and congratulations on their second wedding anniversary, which is Friday, Sept. 12. They were presented a beautiful decorated wedding anniversary cake and Alva sang the Anniversry Song to them as they danced. Pictures were taken and they were given a hearty welcome and a big hand of congratulations.

The "Chair Dance", the "Line Dance", the "Put Your Little Foot" and waltzes were played and everyone seemed to enjoy them all. The "Polka" fit in real well before break time. We don't get to do it very often and there were several couples doing it tonight.

There will be a dance at Pittsburg Community Center, Wednesday night, beginning at seven p.m.

There will be a regular dance at Cadmus, Friday night.

The Marmaton Valley Chapter of the Fiddlers Pickers and Singers will meet next Sunday afternoon, at the Community Center on North Main Street beginning at 1 p.m. They jam from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
