Friends, family help to make anniversaries special

Richard and Paulette Albright were honored on their 40th wedding anniversary when their daughters, Jo and Dani gave them a surprise party at the Elk's Club in Fort Scott. Many friends and relatives gathered to help them celebrate the happy occasion. Congratulations Richard and Paulette.
Beulah Queen, Anna Rourk, Esther Secrest and Dorothy Ketner enjoyed lunch at Harry's Cafe, Pittsburg, on their "Ladies Day Out," August 15.
Shirley McMillian and Veronica Webb, Fort Worth, Texas, Betty and Dale Hixon, Denton and Annette Hixon and Raven, Barry and Dana Button, children and Esther Secrest, enjoyed a chicken dinner at Chicken Mary's, August 15.
Roy Seaver, Phoenix, Ariz., spent a recent weekend with his parents, Les and Mary Seaver and also attended the anniversary party for Richard and Paulette Albright.
Congratulations to all the 4-H members who participated in the Bourbon County Fair. We also want to thank the leaders who put a lot of energy helping these young peoploe grow up to be good citizens.
Richard Johnson, Nevada, visited with Lucile Wolf Sunday afternoon, August 17.
Dorothy and Dennis Karns, Texas, visited with Edna Mae Marsh, and other relatives the weekend of August 17.
Ted Koller and his wife made a recent trip to Arizona. They visited several points of interest while there.
Lucas Snyder who turned three years old, was honored with a birthday party at the lake at Hubert and Hoan Thomas's, Aug 16. Out of town visitors were Dennis and Dorothy Karns, Sam Carns and family from Houston, Texas.
Pastor Stephan's sermon, August 17, was taken from Philippians 3. He stressed the most important thing in our lives should be our relationship with Jesus Christ. The Muhota sisters sang "Beautiful One." Visitors were Cliff and Nancy Patterson, Jacob Allen and Dennis and Dorothy Karns.
Recent visitors with Edna Mae Marsh were her cousin, Joe and Elaine Hawkins, from Brazil. Joe has been a missionary there for fifty years.
School is back in session and I wish a good year for learning for all students and their teachers.
Many friends and relatives gathered at the Franklin Community Center, August 16, to help Kenneth and Jennie Wood celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Their children and grandchildren hosted the dinner party. The program consisted of a video of the couples life, including their marriage and their move from sunny California to cold and snowy Wisconsin in the winter time.
Kenneth is a "retired" minister of the Nazarene Church. Jennie still teaches music to several students. She also substitute teaches. Lois Query and Esther Secrest, cousins, were among those attending.
Kenneth and Jennie, we hope you have many more memorable years together.
