Hawks exhibit at Arts Council gallery ends soon
Nevada, Mo. -- An exhibit featuring the works of local artist Gary Hawk at the Vernon County Arts Council's gallery ends Aug. 29.
Arts Council secretary Ladine Casey said,"if you have not seen Gary Hawk's paintings, you have until Aug 29 at 4 p.m. This will be your last chance."
But a new exhibit also is in the works, and arts council members are looking forward to this display as well. In September, the gallery will feature the works of Linda Rinehart, a watercolorist.
"Linda is a very detailed painter and they are beautiful. You owe it to yourself to see these beautiful pictures," Casey said, noting that a great opportunity to do so is coming on Sept. 5, 5-7 p.m., when a reception for Rinehart is planned in the gallery.
"We have many beautiful picture in the gallery. The paper did a great article on Frances Colvin, and we wish to thank them for this. You can also see her pictures in the Art Gallery, and May's Floral and Gift window," Casey said.
Also showing in the gallery are a variety of works by artists Aletta Borders, Jeanne Board, Ladine Casey Al Fenske, Mary Oakes, Alice Stevenson, Bob Hedrickson, Gary Hawk, and Cliff Patterson. China paintings, jewelry, greeting cards, oil, acrylic, watercolor, colored pencil drawings. woodturning articles, and even purses can be found in the gallery.
"Feel free to come in and browse. They are all for sale, and would make great gifts for birthdays or Christmas. These are one of a kind," Casey said.
The gallery is free and open to the public, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., weekdays, and is located on the lower level of the Carnegie Building, at the corner of Ash and Austin streets in Nevada. The gallery is closed on holidays.
