Lloyd Ovet Vann, age 85, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Saturday, June 21, 2008, at his home. He was born April 30, 1923, in Harding, Kan., the son of Johnson Vann and Agnes Willard Vann.

Lloyd married Rosella Jenkins on September 23, 1953, in Fort Scott. He had worked in the maintenance department for the Western Insurance Company for many years and retired in 1988. Lloyd received the Pioneer Award from the Western for twenty-five years of service to the company.

He was an active member of the Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ and had served as Deacon, Trustee and Men's Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Rosella, of the home; three daughters, Cindy Vann-Green and husband, Calvin, Fort Scott, Agnes Walton and husband, Tray Sr., Springfield, Mo., and Joy Vann-Hamilton, and husband Willis, Lee's Summit, Mo. Also surviving is a brother, Lawrence Vann, Fort Scott; two sisters, Thelma Vann and Linda Mae Graham, both of Fort Scott; and five grandchildren, Abner, Elijah, Willis, Jr., and Varonica Hamilton, and Tray Walton, Jr. and also the Miller children. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters.

Elder John T. Owens and Pastor Pete Pulliam will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m., Friday, June 27, 2008, at the Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ, 5th and Ransom, Ft. Scott. Burial will follow in the West Plains Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
