At approximately 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, an Oldsmobile Silhouette mini van driven by Jessica Arnold, 21, of La Cygne, who was going north on U.S. Highway 69, was struck head on by a turkey in flight, according to the Bourbon County Sheriff's Office. The turkey almost cleared the van's path, but, it instead smashed into the passenger side of the van's windshield. The impact did not completely shatter the glass. It did however cave in the windshield. Cassandra Marsh, 20, of Pleasanton, was sitting in the passenger seat and was taken to Mercy Health Center. She suffered no visible injuries but may have swallowed glass dust from the violent impact, the sheriff's office reported. Also, there were two juveniles in the van, however, they were reported to have suffered no injuries. The turkey was not as fortunate. It died after the impact. Michael Glover/Tribune Photo.
