Wilma Belle Johnston, 80, of Blue Mound, Kansas, died Sunday, May 4, 2008 at her home. She was born July 24, 1927 in Farlinville, Kansas, the daughter of Walter and Nettie Giles Cobbs. She graduated from Blue Mound High School. She was married to Paul Johnston on February 18, 1945 at Fort Scott, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 12, 2001. Wilma worked at Sugar Valley Nursing Home and was a farm wife. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Blue Mound.

She was preceded in death also by one sister, Marie Durden and one grandson, Joshua Johnston.

Survivors include four sons, Walter Johnston of Blue Mound, Kansas; Terry Johnston and Marilyn of Bronson, Kansas; Bill Johnston and Connie of Kincaid, Kansas and Phillip Merkel and Debbie of Moran, Kansas; three daughters, Jean Hood and Mike of Salina, Kansas; Paulette Castagno and Nick of Pittsburg, Kansas and Debbie Wools and Leonard of Colony, Kansas; twenty two grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the United Methodist Church, Blue Mound, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Mound City, Kansas.

Contributions are suggested to the Community Care Hospice or the United Methodist Church, Blue Mound.

Interment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Blue Mound, Kansas.
