Mother's Day carry--in supper May 10 in Hiattville

Paul and Solomon Brewer of Fort Collins, Co. recently spent a few days at the Charles Brewer home. Sunday, April 20, a dinner was held in their honor. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Barry Vogelbacher and Payton, of Spring Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Rachel Wagner, Kayla and Kole, Nick Engle, and Clara Brewer. On Friday evening, Mr. and Mrs. George Hall were guests in the Brewer home and visited with Paul and Solomon. Monday, Paul and Solomon and Charles Brewer ate lunch with Clara Brewer. The visitors returned to their home on Tuesday.
Pastor Andy's sermon on April 20 was titled "The Way or The Way". Scripture was read from Acts 7:55-60 and John 14 1-14.
Ideal Chapter members attending the 2007-08 session of Kansas Grand Chapter April 20-23 were Shirley Palmer, Beverly Davis, and Lynda Foster. Congratulations to Mrs. Davis on her appointment as Co--Chair of the Necrology committee for the 2008-09 session.
Ideal Chapter 369, O.E.S. met April 24 with Beverly Davis and Charles Gift presiding in the East. Shirley J. Palmer, General Grand Chapter Education Chairman and Grand Trustee was presented at the Altar for introduction, welcomed, and saluted with Grand Honors.
Shirley Palmer and Karen Endicott-- Coyan were installed as Marshall and Electa by the Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron assisted by Agnes Armstrong as installing Marshall.
The Worthy Matron reported that her grandson David had purchased the new tables for the chapter and had brought them to her house. The Chapter greatly appreciates his act of kindness for the chapter.
Plans were completed for the May 8 meeting when the new District Aide of District 4, Juanita Phillips of Rob Morris Chapter will make her official visit to the chapter. The Chapter will also be celebrating the 95 birthday of the chapter and honor mothers.
Officers are to dress formal and bring sandwiches or other finger food to compliment the birthday cake.
The finance committee had conferred with the treasurer and reccommended that two of the CD's be cashed in on maturity and part of the money be put in the checking account and the balance used to purchase another CD.
Corresponence was a letter from the new District Aide confirming the date of her visit.
Mrs. Palmer and Mrs. Davis gave reports on Grand Chapter session. Members were reminded that there are several Easter Star scholarships available. If there are young people interested in a scholarship, contact Mrs. Palmer, Mrs. Davis, or Clara Brewer.
Mr. Gift had these words of wisdom to share with the group, "Never be ashamed to admit you are wrong, you are admitting you are wiser than you were before."
Clara Brewer and John Coyan had jokes to share. Margaret McDermed served fruit cocktail cake and ice tea for refreshments.
Shirley Palmer, Beverly Davis, and Clara Brewer attended the banquet and reception for the new Worothy Grant Matron Karen Adams and Grand Martha, Beverly Birk at Yates Center, Saturday evening.
Lynda Foster and Debbie Comstock have returned from Kentucky where they attended several Farm Bureau meetings.
Pastor Andy's sermon, April 27 was titled " Life, Hope and Suffering". Scripture was read from John 14:15-21 and 1Peter 3:13-22.
The Worship team held a brief meeting following Sunday School.
It was announced that there would be a wedding shower at the church May 22 for out Pastor and Morgan Whitker. They will be married June 14 at St. Paul's Chapel in Kansas City. Starting in July, they will be serving churches at Mclouth and Winchester. Hiattville will also have a new Pastor at this time.
All mothers and daughters in the community are invited to the annual Mother and Daughter carry-in supper May 10 at the church.
Shirley Palmer is back in Topeka this week for the wrap--up session of the legislature.
