PARSONS -- Fort Scott High's softball team swept Parsons by identical 13-0 scores in a Southeast Kansas League doubleheader here Tuesday night.

With that sweep and the split recorded between Iola and Pittsburg, the Tigers moved into second place in the league behind undefeated Columbus.

Erica Davis (3-1) was the winning pitcher in the opener, allowing only one hit -- a triple that led off the bottom of the Vikings' first inning -- and three walks while striking out eight.

Erin Coffman, Jamie Collins, Afton Gray and Katelyn Simpson each had two hits for the Tigers (5-1 in the SEK, 7-2 overall). Hannah Hawkins, who had a triple, Elise Nation, Joce Allen and Amanda Bowles each drove in two runs.

Game two was more of the same. Simpson (2-1) took over pitching duties and had a no-hitter going for three innings. The two hits she allowed came in the same inning. She also issued only one walk while striking out seven. She struck out the side in the fifth inning.

Allen was three for four at the plate, scoring twice and driving in two runs. Nation had two hits and also drove in two. Simpson also had two RBI's.

Both games ended after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Fort Scott will be in Lenexa this afternoon (weather permitting) to play St. James Academy. The varsity will play a single game starting at 4:30 with a junior varsity contest to follow.
