Beef Cattle, Forage Crops program
A program packed with useful information for beef cattle and forage crops producers is scheduled for Thursday, May 1, 2008 when K-State Research and Extension's Southeast Agricultural Research Center will host its annual field day. Registration begins a 8:30 a.m. at the Mound Valley Unit, located two and one-half miles west of Mound Valley on highway K-96, and one-quarter mile south of Elk Road.
Field day highlights include: Corn, Ethanol and Cattle: What's Ahead for 2008, using cow body condition to determine weaning times, legumes for interseeding into fescue, forage response to fertilization, and grazing stocker supplementation.
Nineteen sponsoring businesses will provide complimentary refreshments and lunch. Sponsors will also have displays and conduct drawings for door prizes following lunch.
