Gang graffiti or wannabe writing?

Thursday, March 20, 2008
The northeast corner of State and Wall streets has borne this defacing inscription for several weeks now, as do a number of buildings around Fort Scott. While some include obscure non-alphabetic tag elements likely meant as 'signatures' to identify the perpetrators to their peers, this one bears the name of a street gang so widespread that it now boasts chapters across the nation. The question is whether Fort Scott residents should really be concerned about an influx of violent gangs or if the graffiti shown above is nothing more than the scribblings of youths with too much time of their hands.
