FSHS forensics squad competes out of state
The past two weekends have been busy for the Tiger forensics squad. On Feb. 8 and 9 Fort Scott traveled out of state to compete in the 44th annual Lake of the Ozarks tournament in Joplin, Mo. This tournament draws over 35 teams from four different states. The tournament also runs a two in one format; Carl Junction hosts a novice only tournament while Joplin high school hosts a varsity division. The tournament gives a sweepstakes (team placing) for each division, along with a combined over-all award. The Tigers had great success at both tournaments by capturing second at the novice division, third at the varsity division, and second combined. The squad had 30 finalist overall to aid in the impressive finish.
A week later the squad was in action at Coffeyville. Here the team also was impressive by capturingfirst place sweepstakes. The team placed 13 events into finals with eight of those qualifying for state champs tournament. In just the four weeks of the season, Fort Scott has captured nine sweepstakes awards and has over 100 medalists.
