All area games unaffected by weather
Area basketball doubleheaders for all four Tribune Area high schools have not been affected and will still be played tonight as scheduled.
Fort Scott High School hosts Independence tonight in Southeast Kansas League games at the FSHS gymnasium. Independence cancelled school today but can come up because the roads will be clear in time for the trip here.
The teams met Dec. 11 at Independence with Fort Scott's girls taking a 47-43 win to start what became a seven-game winning streak that was snapped Tuesday at Labette County. Indy's boys took a 59-52 win that broke a seven-game losing streak against the Tigers.
It will be a standard six-game night with boys' junior varsity and boys' and girls' freshmen games at Buck Run Community Center at 4:30, 6 p.m. and 7:30, respectively. Girls' JV starts things off at the FSHS gym at 4:30 followed by varsity girls and varsity boys.
Uniontown's home Three Rivers League doubleheader with Marmaton Valley tonight at West Bourbon Elementary School is also still a go. KOAM-TV ran a "crawl" at the bottom of the screen listing cancellations during broadcasts Thursday, including one from the Marmaton Valley district that said "game cancelled." It turns out that was a reference to Thursday junior high games and had nothing to do with tonight's agenda.
Uniontown and Marmaton Valley squared off in non-league games to open the season on Nov. 30. Eagle girls took a 33-31 win that night while Marmaton's boys prevailed, 43-26.
The Tribune had listed a Chetopa-Pleasanton TRL make-up doubleheader Thursday night at Pleasanton. As it turned out, shortly after that was scheduled, Chetopa found a conflict with Class 1A State Scholars Bowl and the schools mutually agreed to reschedule the basketball games for Saturday, according to PHS Athletic Director Alan King.
Tonight's league games with Altoona-Midway at Buffalo are still on, King said. Then Pleasanton's Saturday action will begin at 1 p.m. with JV, girls' varsity and boys' varsity action in the main gymnasium and boys' JV in the south gym.
Jayhawk-Linn's Pioneer League twinbill at Prairie View is still on. LaCygne was not affected by Thursday's snow.
