Sunday drug bust leads to charges against three men, one woman
Fort Scott Police officers Sunday arrested four people in connection to methampehtamine-related charges.
At 8:29 a.m. Sunday, police received a call from a neighbor about suspicious activity taking place in the 600 block of South Eddy Street. The tipster told police several people were taking items from a house at 602 S. Eddy St. to a pick-up truck parked outside the house.
At 8:37 a.m., officers made a traffic stop and made contact with four individuals in the truck. Based on information gathered at the scene, police obtained a search warrant to sift through the house on Eddy Street.
A short time later, police detectives and a member of the Southeast Kansas Drug Enforcement Task Force seized 6 grams of what appeared to be methamphetamine, which is considered a substantial amount, and several undisclosed drug-related items.
Police declined to say if the drugs were found on one of the suspects, in the vehicle or in the house.
In the end, officers arrested Jerren McCormac, 35, Humboldt, Darrin Lansdown, 33, Chanute, Jason Outlan, 25, Iola, and Nicole M. Lee, 25, Fort Scott.
On Monday, the Bourbon County Attorney's Office charged McCormac, Lansdown, Outlan and Lee with one count each of severity level 1 drug felony, the most severe charge, of unlawful manufacture of the controlled substance methamphetamine.
Lansdown was also charged with a second count of unlawful manufacturing along with two felony severity level four counts of use or possession of simulated controlled substances and drug paraphernalia and one count of obstruction of official duty and driving without a driver's license, both misdemeanors.
All four of the defendants had their first appearances in Bourbon County District Court late Monday and are currently being held in custody at Southeast Kansas Regional Correctional Center. The judge ordered bond screening and appointed attorneys for the suspects, who are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
