Celebrations, farewell dinner mark early December

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Dale and Betty Hixon, and the birthdays of Dale Hixon and Raven, all on Dec. 3, and Barry Button's on Dec. 9, the following enjoyed dinner at Chicken Mary's; Mike and Lori Hixon, Denton and Annette Hixon and Raven, and Lois Reader, all of Uniontown; Dana and Barry Button, Alissa and Alex from Redfield; and Dale and Betty Hixon.
On Saturday, Dec. 1, Joe and Shirley White, Bob and Linda McBride, John and Susan Whitehead, celebrated John's birthday by eating out at a local restaurant.
Ron Lewis enjoyed having lunch with his mother, Marjorie Lewis, on Saturday, Dec. 8.
Ray and Carol Carter and Patrick spent the weekend of Dec. 1-2 with her parents, Carney and Estalee Simpson.
Jack and Marge Stephan joined others in celebrating their great-grandchild, Avery Stewarts' first birthday.
An early Christmas celebration was held at the home of Marjorie Lewis on Dec. 1. The reason for the event was due to the fact that her grandson, SFC Jason Lewis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Lewis, was leaving Dec. 4, as he is returning to Iraq. Breakfast consisted of ham, eggs, biscuits, apple butter, homemade cinnamon rolls, orange juice and coffee.
Those present were Ron and Leah Lewis, Larry and Beverly Peel, Kim and Doug Harris and Hannah, Hepler, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Harris, also of Hepler, Brady Peel, Bill and Ruth Lewis, Lisa and Taelor Lewis, David Lewis, Mattie, Kate and Sofe, Overland Park, Kitty and Aimee Lewis.
Marjorie's Christmas tree was decorated with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and looked so beautiful with the lights on. All attending had presents for Jason. Leah had six bags with different things in them for everyone else. If they were not satisfied with what they drew, they could exchange with someone. Everyone had a wonderful time.
Sharon and Don Madison hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for their family on Saturday, Nov. 17. Those attending were Sharon's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Fursman, Colony; Amanda Smilie, Irving, Texas; John and Mary Harris and children, Jack and Elizabeth Townsley, Valley Center; Sharon's sister, Sheila and Dave Blubaugh, Brand and Bethany Blubaugh and Max, all of Fort Scott.
Ron and Leah Lewis hosted supper Tuesday evening for their son, Jason, and Ron's mother, Marjorie Lewis.
The Joy Class of the Grace Baptist Tabernacle enjoyed a trip to Nevada, Mo., where they ate at a local restaurant, then drove through Radio Springs Park to look at all the lights. It was so beautiful, as part of the lights reflect in the water.
When they returned to the Family Life Center, they enjoyed cookies, and a variety of hot drinks. They had been instructed to bring a white elephant gift, and all enjoyed exchanging and taking away the gifts. All had a wonderful time together in spite of the weather conditions.
Ron and Leah Lewis hosted supper Dec. 3 for their son, Jason, and Ron's mother Marjorie, and two of Jason's friends, Steve Powers and George of Big Gap, Va. Steve brought Marjorie a beautiful poinsettia from him and his wife Megan. This has been a tradition that Steve has carried on since he was in the service with Jason and came home with him to go hunting.
On Monday, Dec. 3, Earl White celebrated his 96th birthday. His son, Joe White, and his daughter Patty and Garyl Coleman, and his wife, Laurel, enjoyed lunch out at a local restaurant.
Ron, Linda and James Center traveled to Joplin, Mo., on Friday evening, Dec. 7.
Joe and Shirley White attended a birthday party at the Keyhole in honor of their great-granddaughter, Jordan Thurston, who had turned 9 years old.
