JV girls win tourney

Fort Scott High's junior varsity girls' basketball team won their final two games in their home JV tournament Saturday and took the tourney title.

The Tigers beat Iola in the morning's opener, 39-32, as Breianna Jones scored 28 points.

Jones scored 22 more points as Fort Scott beat Chanute 46-24 in the final game of the day. Lisa Forgey scored eight points for the Tigers while Jamie Collins added seven.

Jones, who scored 29 in the Tigers' win over Parsons Thursday night, scored 79 points in the three games.

Parsons took second place, beating both Chanute and Iola on Saturday.

The Tiger JV plays again tonight at Independence as part of a full-six game slate. Their game will be at 4:30 at Losey Gymnasium.
