DANIEL GERARD PAYNE

Daniel Gerard Payne, age 51, resident of Fort Scott, died Nov. 28, 2007, as the result of a house fire.

He was born Jan. 7, 1956, in Fort Scott, the son of Elmer Mike Payne and Hilda Roberts Payne.

Dan attended school in Fulton and later graduated from Jayhawk Linn High School in 1974.

He married Vonda McGehee in 1990. They later divorced.

Dan lived in Bourbon County his entire life. He was known for his humor by his many friends.

Survivors include a son, Nicholas Payne; three brothers, Charley Payne, Fort Scott, Joe Payne, Prescott, and Jim Payne, Van Vleck, Texas; three sisters, Mary Leisure, Fall River, Kan., Paula Cannon, Louisburg, Kan., and Teresa Holder, Stockton, Mo.; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother in 1971 and his father in 2004.

There was cremation.

Memorial services for Daniel Gerard Payne are being planned by the family in the near future and will be announced by Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main St.
