Moonlight, Mistletoe tour menu revealed

Wednesday, December 5, 2007

An sumptuous menu has been planned for Moonlight and Mistletoe tour guests to enjoy from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at the home of Nate Lyons, 750 S. National Ave.

Nate's mother and business partner, Pat Lyons, said the Lyons Twin Mansions have been abuzz for weeks in preparation for Homes for the Holidays tour weekend.

"Twenty-six years ago Lyons House was open for the tour, and this year we are presenting the Twin Mansions with our son Nate," she said.  "Come celebrate with us!

This year's Moonlight and Mistletoe menu is a follows:

*Champagne cocktail -- a chilly concoction of sparkling champagne laced with pomegranate and pear.
*Hot spiced cider -- warm up with this seasonal tradition.
*Garlic rosemary pork roast -- so tender and juicy -- offered with tiny rolls and "the pride of Homes Tour," Old Fort Barbecue Sauce
*Two savory cheese cakes served with traditional garnishes. One is a caviar cheesecake from a recipe shared by the chef at Forager House in Washington Crossing, Penn. The other is a lobster cheesecake created by Food NetworkChef Emeril Lagasse.
*Sherry cheddar spread on toast crisps.
*A lavish crudites tray with our homemade garlic and fresh basil dip
*A silver punch bowl brimful of chilled shrimp, garnished with fresh lemon wedges.
*A dessert table that includes a french chocolate cake, cranberry upside down cake, freshly whipped cream, grapes and spiced nuts

Champagne and Chocolate. Caviar and lobster.

Miss Pat said it's going to be mouth watering buffet.

With only 100 tickets available for the Moonlight and Mistletoe tour, she said, it would be wise to "get your tickets today to partake of this singular evening."

Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at Country Cupboard, 12 N. Main St., or the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce, 231 E. Wall St. Moonlight and Mistletoe tickets also entitle their holders to visit any and all sites on the Homes for the Holidays tour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The Moonlight and Mistletoe tour is a deluxe preview tour of the Homes for the Holidays tour homes and a fundraiser for the Historic Preservation Association of Bourbon County Inc., whose members work to save and preserve historic buildings such as the Old Congregational Church, the Ingham Building, the Union Block, and the historic Union Depot (with help from the City of Fort Scott). HPA also helped to fund acquisition of land for the Mine Creek Battlefield near Pleasanton.
