WILLIAM RICHARD COLE
William Richard Cole, age 63, a resident of rural Mapleton, Kansas, died Thursday, November 22, 2007, at his home.
He was born October 23, 1944, in Salem, Oregon, the son of Donal Richard Cole and Mary Ann Meech Cole.
He married Audrey Page on October 29, 1966, at Nowata, Oklahoma. Mr. Cole served with the United States Army during Vietnam. He had performed oil field work in both Kansas and Texas.
He enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey, of the home; a son, Michael Cole, and wife, Stephanie, Fort Scott; two daughters, Deborah Stedman, and husband Brian, Willis, Texas, and Kristen Cole, of the home; seven grandchildren, Jordon, Mackenna, Jessica, Angela, Sarah, Madalyn, and Devlin. Also surviving is a sister, Donna Rash, Garland, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brooklyn Ballou and a brother, Eddie Cole.
Rev. Jared Witt will conduct graveside services at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at the U. S. National Cemetery where military honors will be preformed by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Family and friends may meet at the Cheney Witt Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery at 2:15 on Tuesday.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.. Monday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
