GARNETT -- Fort Scott's Adrianne Tourtillott and Uniontown's Kiersten Elder posted the same score at the Anderson County Invitational golf tournament here Monday. Tourtillott won the scorecard tie-breaker and received the fifth-place medal her score of 98.

Tourtillott shot 49 on both the front and back nines. Elder shot 50 on the front and 48 on the back. Caney Valley's Nikki Clapp also shot 98, going 50-48, but placed seventh after the tie-breaker.

Tourtillott's score was season best, bettering her previous best over 18 holes by 10 strokes. She shot 109 last week at Pittsburg.

"I'm looking forward to her having a great day on Monday at Regionals," Fort Scott head coach Karen Curran said.

It's also the first time Elder has shot under 100 in an 18-hole tournament, according to Uniontown head coach Alan Shinn.

"Both Kiersten and Taylor (Hanson) played well today," Shinn said. "They both posted the lowest scores of the season and their high-school careers. Kiersten's previous best was 10-4 last week in our tournament at Fort Scott.

"Both girls were very consistent today in all aspects of their game and were able to execute shots when they needed to do so. Hopefully, we will continue to play well next week at the Regional meet."

Hansen shot 60-57--117, besting her previous lot of 129 at Caney Valley in the season's first tournament.

Cassie Ogran was Fort Scott's second-best scorer with a 55-50--105. Kacie Brown followed at 58-57--115. Dana Ballou shot 57-62--119, Shelby Blackburn 57-70--127 and Jessica Henry 71-63--134. All but Blackburn, who was hampered by blisters, shot career bests.

Kat Fritz of Spring Hill, who finished 10th at Class 4-3-2-1A State last year, won the tournament by 13 stokes with a 38-43--81. Teammate Jaylee Henkle was second with her 48-46----94. The Broncos were also the team champion with a 390. Caney Valley was second at 403. Fort Scott was fifth with a 437.

"We've been behind Fredonia and Caney and Anderson County all season," Curran said. "And then you throw in a very good team from Spring Hill. We placed right where we should have."

The Unionown Class 4-3-2-1A Regional Tournament will take place Monday at the Fort Scott Country Club. FSHS, Anderson County, Eureka, Marmaton Valley, Osage City, Pomona-West Franklin, Spring Hill and Yates Center will also take part.
