Safford competed in the National American Miss Kansas Princess Pageant in August at the Hyatt Regency in Wichita. She was a top ten finalist for the Miss Kansas Princess title and took home eight trophies and four ribbons. Safford is the daughter of Brenda O'Keefe of Lawrence.
