FSMS intramural football and volleyball
Football, played Sept. 24.
Monday's make-up Fort Scott Middle School football contests both ended with identical scores of 20-6.
The Huskers and the Battlecats faced off in the first game. The Huskers scored first on a 57-yard sweep run by Don Savage. Savage was well-contained behind the line of scrimmage but cut back and was able to find a seam back to the left side of the field. He also ran in the two-point conversion for an early second-quarter lead.
The Battlecats countered on a 35-yard pass from Cameron Woodring to Justin Uhler. The two-point extra point attempt was unsuccessful.
The Huskers scored twice in the second half with Savage running off tackle from 37 yards out in the third quarter and up the middle from 40 yards away in the fourth.
In the second game, the Bulls proved too versatile for the Gators. Though the Gators scored first on a one-yard plunge by Cody McGeehee in the opening quarter, the Bulls responded twice in the second.
Baker Weilert ran in a 14-yard run off the jet series for the first Bull touchdown to tie the game. Then Jonathan Stark scored from 22 yards out on a well-disguised bootleg. The final touchdown for the Bulls was added in the third quarter when Stark threw to receiver Matt Middleton on an 18-yard pass. Stark then ran the two-point conversion for the final margin of the game.
